“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears” – Nelson Mandela
I’m that kind of a believer. A believer who questions the reality. A believer who asks God questions, a believer who is skeptical about the ways of mankind. I’m the kind of a believer who asked myself, the importance of memorised prayers and attending mass. Of course, I’m compliant but I always wondered, who this God is and what he intends us to be not what the world chose to believe it to be.
I know God, I trust in him and I love him. I always detested the way we are asked to worship God. I hate the way, the religion has become a political show. And religious people have become mere dolls who do things for the Glory of oneself. So, I have a different Easter message for you all. The one that may not sound good to the people of the world.
Forget about your dress. Forget about what has been taught to you about Easter. Have you ever wondered, why God has to do this? How can one man’s death redeem the world? Is this some sort of mystical understanding that we cannot wrap our minds around?
I stood there and wondered, why am I hearing the same message here in Easter wearing a new dress all over again for the nth time? Is this going to make me believe God, or may be see him in new light or just a yearly reminder like ‘Hey happy resurrection’, then snooze, move on?
I do not want to move on. I want to know, why am I hearing about the death and resurrection of our Lord again while I’m so unmoved and I know for sure, that most of them are also here for the obligatory mass and the other not-so-worthy reasons.
I understand, I’m being brutal here but how long do you want to keep hearing, God loves you so he died for you. Don’t we have some kind of conscience or even mere respect for something so big he did for us? Then why do we pretend to be holy while we aren’t dissecting and putting in the effort to understand God for real once. Why don’t we admit the things that are in your head? You are having all these thoughts about a boring mass or a fashion show? Just admit it. And then..
And then.. what? Right?
Get real with God! Just get honest with God for once in your life. He already knows and why do you pretend to play ‘holy holy’? Just admit the doubts you have so he will be able to show you what it is to celebrate Easter.
The real Easter Message I have for you all is. We all are sensible beings. We think through things even for something trivial. Why aren’t you curious about the ways you have been taught to know God? Do you even know God? If you do, don’t get comfortable. There is more but for you to get there, first take off your mask and stop pretending.
Do you think you are ready to get closer to God?
Sorry, not sorry. A very real Happy Easter to all of you.
